poop

Here is what I've worked on lately. Today at the Bee I did a charcoal study of a very pretty lady in a Paul Gauguin Tahiti theme. I wasn't feeling too tip-top so I only stayed half of the day and did only a three hour study. Its not my best but ....Ok I guess. Here is a painting I did yesterday. The reference was of a photo of one of my teachers sisters that I took probably two years ago. I once did a graphite study of the same girl and screwed up that drawing too. Two years later I think I screwed her up again by elongated her features a tad, aging her a bit and there is some skewing issues going on. Oh well.
I don't have the heart now to scrub it out but I think I'll let it dry and then paint over it later. Actually there is a skull study under her already. Also shown is what I might be doing next.
As for a question that was asked before, yes I usually work from photos. Just before Comic Con I layed down some Fliff to buy myself a brand new fancy printer. It makes some pretty nice photo prints. I needed it for my portfolio plus I had the excuse of my old printer breaking down too so guess I can say I purchased it for work related reasons. Or at least that is the story I'm giving come tax time.

As for the question about my palette here is what I use.

Titanium White (always)
Ivory Black (sometimes)
Cad Yellow Light (usually)
Cad red Light (always)
Permanent Rose (sometimes)
Transparent maroon (always)
Winsor Green (just got it so I don't know if its good)
Yellow Ocher (sometimes)
Burnt Umber (I used to use it all the time but I now find it sometimes poops up a painting...too brown)

Meh

Yesterdays paintin'.

Its that actress again. I got the head tilt wrong again and the likeness isn't as tight as it could be with some symmetry issues but I'll just chop that up as painting growing pains. You got to make a lot of crap before you come close to anything good.
Been working on Warcraft and another White Wolf cover. Currently painting a skull and another chick just not this actress again.

Nekked Chicks......and in color!

Ever since I saw the Jon Foster and Rick Barry Demos at Comic Con I've decided to start my oils again and more seriously this time. This time I don't put too much pressure on myself to make a complete study of a master and end up bailing on the painting half way through like before. Now I've decide to try and make at least one painting (sometimes just a small study) a day not really caring about the outcome and just have fun with it. Most of my paintings have been of nekked chicks but......I don't know, I like Nekked chicks. These are some of my better ones of this month.

The cartoonish one is about 2 hours while the others were about 6 hours each. I don't remember what time it took to do the quicks. Notice I keep my palette slim cause I'm not too good with tha color.

Damn you Reaper!

Both Bernie Mac AND Issac "Duke of New York" Hayes in the same weekend?

Somebody get the Reaper some decaf cause he's workin' WAY too hard.

suck.

It's been a while.

It's been over a month since I've worked in charcoal and newsprint but today I did a marathon at the Bee and I guess it turned out OK. Ok enough to post I guess. Maybe one day I'll have the guts to post one of my oil paintings up one day. Not that anyone is looking.
